Therapeutic Care & Emotional Support
We don't just look after children; we help them heal. Using the PACE model and working with clinical psychologists, we support young people to process past trauma and build secure attachments. Our staff are trained to recognize the causes of distress, offering empathy and "time-in" rather than "time-out," ensuring no child feels rejected during difficult moments.
Education & Achievement
We believe education is the passport to the future. Whether a child is in mainstream school or requires alternative provision, we advocate fiercely for their educational needs. We provide in-house support for homework, transport to school, and celebrate every academic milestone—big or small—to help them realize their potential.
Preparation for Independence
Our goal is to prepare young people for the real world. We run a structured independence programme where young people learn vital life skills such as budgeting, cooking nutritious meals, washing their own clothes, and managing appointments. We ensure they leave us with the confidence to succeed as young adults.
Health, Activities & Wellbeing
A happy childhood involves fun and good health. We encourage all young people to pursue hobbies, from swimming and football to art and music. We ensure tailored health plans are in place, including registration with local doctors and dentists, and we promote a healthy lifestyle with balanced, home-cooked meals chosen by the children themselves.
Family & Community Connections
We understand the importance of identity and belonging. We actively support and supervise contact with family members and friends, ensuring those bonds are maintained wherever safe. Our home is deeply embedded in the Prestwich community, giving young people access to local clubs, parks, and religious or cultural groups to help them feel connected.

Building Trust: "Sarah's" Story
When "Sarah" (14) arrived at Mango Tree House, she had experienced multiple placement breakdowns and found it hard to trust adults. She often refused to engage in conversation and struggled with anger. Using our PACE approach, staff didn’t react to her behaviour but remained curious about her feelings, showing her she was accepted unconditionally. Over six months, Sarah began to lower her defences. She now initiates conversations with staff, joins in family movie nights, and has successfully re-entered full-time education for the first time in two years.

A Path to Independence: "Michael's" Story
"Michael" (17) came to us needing support to transition to adulthood. He had no experience cooking or managing money and was anxious about the future. Our team built a bespoke independence plan for him. We started small—teaching him to shop for ingredients and cook his favourite meal (spaghetti bolognese). Today, Michael manages his own weekly budget, travels independently to college, and has secured an apprenticeship. He is now preparing to move into his own flat with confidence.

Can I bring my own things with me?
Absolutely! This is your home. We encourage you to bring your favourite clothes, photos, books, and special items. We will also give you a budget to personalize your bedroom with bedding, posters, and decorations that you like, so it feels like your own space from day one.
What happens with school?
We will help you every step of the way. If you already have a school you like, we will try to keep you there. If you need a new school, we will help find the best one for you. We also have quiet areas in the house for homework and computers you can use to study.
Can I see my family and friends?
Yes. We know how important your family is to you. We will help you stay in touch with your parents, brothers, sisters, and other relatives through visits, phone calls, or video chats, as long as it is safe. You can also invite friends over to visit or go out to see them.
What is the food like?
The food is whatever you enjoy! We sit down together to plan the weekly menu, so you can choose your favourite meals. We also have a "snack bowl" available, and we will teach you how to cook some of these dishes yourself if you want to learn.
Who will look after me?
You will be looked after by a small, friendly team of carers who are there 24 hours a day. You will also have a "Key Worker"—a special staff member chosen just for you—who will spend extra time getting to know you, helping you with any problems, and making sure your voice is heard.
